On the evening of November 12, 2023, a domestic dispute in Benson, North Carolina, escalated into a fatal shooting. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was allegedly shot by his 15-year-old brother, leading to his untimely death.
Tracy Marshawn Davis, the victim, was the father of a young boy and a veteran of the U.S. Army. The incident occurred at their shared home, where Davis had recently moved in with his father and younger brother. The shooting took place following an argument between the brothers when Davis asked the 15-year-old to clean his room.
K.J. Brown, a friend and roommate of Davis who witnessed the altercation, recounted the events leading to the tragedy. He described a typical day that turned fatal when the brothers argued, reportedly over household responsibilities. Brown, who witnessed the events, described a “tussle” that escalated quickly, culminating in gunshots.
Following the altercation, Davis, injured and in shock, approached Brown for help. Brown drove Davis to a nearby fire station, where emergency services were rendered. The victim was transported by EMS to WakeMed Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested the 15-year-old brother, charging him on a juvenile petition for the shooting.
