In a saddening end to a missing person case, the remains of an Arizona woman were found over 550 miles from her residence.
Officials discovered the body of 54-year-old Christi Lynn Romero in her car’s trunk.
Richard Paul Rodriguez, 34, her estranged boyfriend, has been arrested under suspicion of her murder, casting light on the details of this extensive criminal case.
Romero lived in Holbrook, Arizona, and her family reported her missing after she stopped responding to their calls. During a welfare check at Romero’s home, the police found evidence of forced entry. Additionally, her vehicle, a 1995 Plymouth Neon, was also not found on the property.
Police records indicate a troubled history between Romero and Rodriguez, recently leading to a restraining order against Rodriguez on November 2. It’s believed Rodriguez entered Romero’s home against her will, resulting in her abduction and murder.
Rodriguez’s arrest took place in California, far from Holbrook. He was found near his parents’ home, where Romero’s car, with her body inside, was parked. The arrest was supported by video surveillance and mobile phone tracking, which helped track Rodriguez’s path from Arizona to California.
The collaborative efforts of the Holbrook Police and Californian agencies resulted in the arrest. Rodriguez faces murder charges as the case evolves.
