An 81-year-old man was arrested following a violent altercation that left his daughter seriously wounded.
The confrontation, which occurred outside their home in Nashville, Tennessee, resulted in Floyd Allen Seay being charged with attempted criminal homicide.
Metro Nashville Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Monday afternoon, November 27, 2023, at about 1:30 pm in the 3000 block of Louise Drive.
Upon arrival, they discovered Seay’s daughter suffering from multiple stab wounds to her chest, lower neck, and cheek. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was treated for serious injuries.
Initially engaged in a verbal dispute, the exchange became violent, leading Seay to grab his daughter’s head, pulling her to the ground, and striking her face several times. Things intensified when Seay entered the home, retrieved a kitchen knife, and resumed his attack, stabbing his daughter several times.
After the attack, Seay was seen handing the knife to a neighbor, shockingly admitting, “I tried to kill her, but I couldn’t.”
During the police investigation, Seay confessed to the intentional use of the knife, although he claimed uncertainty about why he chose to grab it. Disturbingly, he expressed a willingness to repeat his actions if given another opportunity.
Seay’s arrest has brought to light a troubling pattern of domestic disturbances at the address, with over 50 calls made to the home in the past year, including 24 related to domestic issues.
Floyd Allen Seay is currently detained in Metro Jail, his bond set at $500,000.
