A distressing incident occurred at Six Flags Over Georgia on the evening of October 1, 2023. An accident resulted in the death of park employee Andrea Crook, a 43-year-old from Villa Rica, Georgia. Crook was thrown from a van that she was in on the park grounds.
The Cobb County Police provided a detailed account of the event. Crook, along with various other adults and two younger employees, was seated in the rear cargo section of a 2004 Ford Econoline van. Asia Hendricks, a 27-year-old park employee, was driving the van. The accident took place when the van was making a leftward ascent on an internal roadway of the theme park. Andrea fell or was ejected out of the rear doors and hit her head on the pavement.
After the incident, Crook was swiftly transported by both park and local emergency services to Grandy Memorial Hospital. However, a severe head wound, a result of her collision with the road, led to her death.
The vehicle, purposed for transporting park staff to the park’s annual Fright Fest event, lacked seating in its cargo area. Fright Fest is a widely recognized Halloween event organized by the park each year.
As the investigation into the accident unfolds, the management of Six Flags Over Georgia has shown full cooperation with the police. The investigation remains ongoing, with no charges currently filed against the driver, Hendricks. The focus is to ascertain if the accident’s nature holds any legal implications.
