Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly made a secret visit to Portugal in mid-September 2023, and it was speculated that they met with Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew.
The visit took place after the couple participated in the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany. According to reports, the couple journeyed to the village of Melides, the home of Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. The primary reason for the visit was to celebrate Prince Harry’s 39th birthday. Notably, during the Invictus Games, fans in a stadium sang “Happy Birthday” to the prince.
Eugenie and Jack have made Melides their home. Jack works in marketing for a resort located near Melides, known as the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.
Reports suggest that Harry and Meghan’s trip was not just about familial ties but also provided an intimate setting for birthday celebrations, away from the public eye and without their two children. The couple enjoyed a “short stay” at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club near Melides. The Alentejo Tourist Board confirmed Harry and Meghan’s visit to the region and the club.
This recent gathering is a testament to the enduring friendship between Harry, Meghan, and Eugenie. In the past, Eugenie visited the Sussexes in California. The Sussexes have previously permitted Eugenie and Jack to reside in their UK home, Frogmore Cottage. This contrasts with their reported estranged relationship with other members of the royal family.
