During a flight from London to Nice, France, on Thursday, September 21, a 73-year-old woman believed to be sleeping, was discovered dead after the plane’s arrival.
Her lack of motion, as fellow passengers disembarked and collected their belongings, raised alarms. The flight crew, triggered by her unresponsiveness, swiftly coordinated for the arrival of emergency medical staff.
Paramedics were unable to revive the passenger. Her death was officially announced at 10 p.m. Preliminary assumptions suggest she may have faced a heart attack mid-flight, though the exact cause of death remains unknown.
The flight operator, British Airways, acknowledged the incident, citing a customer’s death unfolding during the journey. They noted that deaths during air travel, while infrequent, sometimes happen due to underlying health complications. They affirmed that thorough procedures are in force to navigate such unfortunate situations, maintaining the dignity of the deceased while ensuring minimal disturbance for other passengers.
The incident follows a similar circumstance in June when a young British man died from an asthma attack on a flight from London to New York.
