Law enforcement agencies are investigating threats aimed at the grand jurors in Georgia who indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants for their alleged involvement in a scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election outcome.
The threats emerged subsequent to the exposure of juror names and addresses on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform.
The Georgia Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement to trace the origin of these threats, which have extended beyond Fulton County.
Some online posts contained hostile language targeting Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney. Dan Jones, Advancing Democracy’s president, emphasized that these threats highlight the vulnerability of individuals beyond the political spectrum. He urged authorities to take these threats seriously and called on political leaders, especially from the right, to condemn such actions.
Trump, labeling the indictment as a “witch hunt,” warned on Truth Social, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”
The indictment spans 98 pages, listing 19 defendants and 41 criminal charges.
Despite the allegations, Trump remains a leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
