Shooting at Louisiana High School: 1 Student Dead, 2 Wounded

St. Helena College & Career Academy in Greensburg, Louisiana became the scene of a tragic event on September 12. One individual was pronounced dead and two others were injured due to a shooting incident. The information was confirmed by the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office, who reported that medical assistance was sought for the injured students.

In connection to the event, a 14-year-old student has been taken into custody. However, details concerning the alleged shooter or the underlying cause for the shooting are still under wraps.

While the details of the victims have not been publicized, it is known that the incident happened around 3:30 pm, coinciding with the school’s end-of-day dismissal. Following the incident, there was a noticeable law enforcement presence on the school grounds.

The location of St. Helena College & Career Academy is an hour’s drive from Baton Rouge. 

Reacting to the unfortunate event, Governor John Bel Edwards of Louisiana extended his heartfelt condolences. He also made an appeal to legislative members to enact measures to mitigate gun violence incidents.
