An Oklahoma sheriff’s deputy was taken into custody on Wednesday, Aug. 30, accused of the fatal shooting of his spouse.
Officers responding to an incident in Oklahoma City around 2 a.m. found Deputy Jordan Cannon, 40, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department’s report.
The suspect, Vaughn Cannon, 41, was present at the home upon the police’s arrival. Preliminary investigations suggest the two were involved in an argument before Cannon allegedly shot his wife.
Both Vaughn and Jordan Cannon had served as deputies in Cleveland County.
In light of the incident, Sheriff Chris Amason of the sheriff’s office commented on Jordan Cannon’s passing. He said she was known for her positive attitude and her dedication to her profession. He mentioned that the sheriff’s office is providing support groups and counselors to assist their staff and the community during this period.
