Former royal family member Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, has revealed the final words she had with Queen Elizabeth II shortly before the Queen’s death.
Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96 in Balmoral, Scotland, after a 70-year reign, advised Ferguson to “Just be yourself, Sarah.”
The information came to light during the August 30 episode of Ferguson’s podcast, “Tea Talks with the Duchess & Sarah.”
Reflecting on her battle with breast cancer, the Duchess of York, now 63, feels the ordeal has pushed her to embrace authenticity. “She just got annoyed when I wasn’t being myself,” Ferguson admitted. “But now I am myself, and I’m so lucky to be able to be myself.”
While the exact timing of the Queen’s statement remains uncertain, the late monarch was reportedly in good spirits days before her passing.
Sarah Ferguson was previously married to Prince Andrew, King Charles’ younger brother, from 1986 to 1996.They have two children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. After their separation, Ferguson’s relationship with the royal family was strained. However, in recent times, it appeared to have improved, even though she was noticeably absent from key royal events, such as King Charles’ coronation.
Ferguson faced personal challenges this year, diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in June, leading to a subsequent mastectomy. Her rep confirmed that she’s under excellent medical care with a positive prognosis.
