On Friday, September 8, Prince Harry made an unannounced visit to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II is buried. The visit coincides with the first anniversary of the monarch’s passing.
Later on, Prince William and Kate were scheduled to be in the same chapel for a memorial service in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Images capturing Prince Harry as he left the chapel began circulating on several social media outlets before the memorial service was about to begin.
St George’s Chapel, which is open to the general public, witnessed this unanticipated visit by Prince Harry. Around the same time, Prince William was involved in a separate event in Wales, located approximately 230 miles from the chapel.
Given these recent developments, attention has been drawn to the perceived discord between Prince Harry and the other members of the British royal household.
While the King’s representative did not provide any official comments, sources close to the palace mentioned that multiple members of the royal family have made individual visits to the chapel to pay their respects. The King does not consider Prince Harry’s visit to be an issue.
Currently in the U.K. for several charitable functions, Prince Harry resides in California with his spouse, Meghan. The evening before his chapel visit, he attended the WellChild Awards in London. There, he discussed not attending the previous year’s awards due to his grandmother’s death, remarking that the Queen would have valued his presence at such gatherings, highlighting the significance of community unity.
Tensions have been evident between Prince William and Prince Harry, with the latter’s decision to step back from formal royal duties being a key factor. This strain was further exacerbated by the publication of Prince Harry’s book, “Spare,” in which he comments on disagreements with Prince William and shares personal insights regarding Kate, Prince William’s wife.
