On a Ryanair flight set to depart for the island of Ibiza from Manchester, England, an inebriated woman in a pink top became the catalyst for a commotion.
The confrontation was recorded on Monday, August 21, at 3 pm and was caught on video by passenger Lyndsay Cash.
As the situation grew tense, the woman, after shouting and issuing threats, was eventually immobilized in a headlock. Others, believed to be her family members, further heightened the conflict with fighting in the aisles. A man dressed in a green shirt tried to pacify the agitated parties.
Cash, a beautician from Wigan, remarked on the woman’s disturbances from the onset of boarding and voiced concerns about the flight crew’s response. She also criticized the airline’s handling of the situation, saying the passenger should not have been let on the plane.
The Greater Manchester police were notified and four individuals all in their 30’s, including the drunk woman, were removed from the plane. Subsequent arrests saw three individuals detained on suspicions of being drunk and assaulting police officers.
Addressing the incident, Ryanair expressed regret, adding that the case is now under police jurisdiction.
