Three Dead in Car Outside School

Three dead bodies were discovered inside a parked vehicle near Jonathan Jennings School 109 in Indianapolis on Monday morning, August 14

Upon notification, local law enforcement agencies responded to the scene. To ensure the emotional well-being of the students, the elementary school buses were rerouted away from the area.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the deaths. Preliminary observations did not identify any overt signs of harm on the victims. Two of the of the deceased were identified as Josue Alexander Lezama Vargas, 28, and Deyvir Bayron Serrano Rivera, 31.

Another individual was located alive inside the same vehicle and was immediately taken to a nearby medical facility. The school district mentioned that the surviving man was in an “intoxicated” state, though they did not provide additional details regarding his condition.

On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that all three deaths are suspected to be due to drug overdoses.

Both the police and the school district are actively working to provide further information and ensure the safety of the student
