Prince William and Princess Kate, both 41, are going to lead public tributes commemorating the revered Queen Elizabeth, who passed away on September 8, 2022, on the one-year anniversary of her death.
The couple intends to pay homage to Prince William’s grandmother while looking toward the future, according to insider sources.
A royal source describes the momentous event as “truly signifying the end of an era.”
On the anniversary day, King Charles and Queen Camilla will privately celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s life at the Balmoral estate in Scotland, where the late monarch peacefully passed away at 96. In contrast to previous expectations, no public event or family gathering is planned for the day.
Currently on summer vacation with their children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – Prince William and Princess Kate are set to resume their roles and prepare for the new school term.
Joining other members of the royal family at Balmoral in the coming weeks, the couple will continue to shape their evolving roles as the royal family navigates the transition of duties after King Charles ascended to the throne in May.
Due to tensions between Prince Harry, his wife Meghan and the royal family, it is unknown, but unlikely they will be invited to be with the family.
