Man Fatally Stabbed Girlfriend He Accused of Stealing

A Georgia man was arrested on Sunday, August 13, for allegedly killing his girlfriend whom he accused of stealing from him.

The incident occurred on Bush Chapel Drive in Winder, Georgia, leading to the arrest of Ralph Butler, 58, on charges of fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Yolanda Hammond, 50, during a heated argument.

According to the Winder Police Department, the confrontation occurred shortly before 11 pm.

Butler’s claims that Hammond had taken items from him sparked a disagreement that escalated. During the altercation, another man tried to intervene, leading to a physical fight.

As tensions rose, Butler assaulted the man, causing non-life-threatening head injuries.

Butler allegedly stabbed Hammond multiple times, causing her death. Despite the prompt arrival of officers, Hammond could not be revived. The injured man was transported to a nearby medical facility.

After the alleged attack, Butler fled the scene, prompting a widespread search.

In collaboration with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement located Butler at a home in Bethlehem the next morning. He was arrested and now faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery.
