Meghan Markle has expressed concerns that Kate Middleton may influence an anticipated conversation between Prince Harry and King Charles.
Prince Harry is set to attend the WellChild charity event in London on September 7, continuing his 15-year tradition, before departing for Germany for the sixth Invictus Games.
During his brief stay in the UK, the Duke of Sussex is expected to engage in a reconciliatory talk with his father, King Charles.
Meghan will not accompany Harry on this trip, reportedly due to commitments with their children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2. However, sources suggest she is apprehensive about Kate Middleton’s potential role in the royal discussions.
An insider shared that Meghan would prefer that no conversation between Harry and Kate take place, saying that she “hates the idea of not being there to defend herself.” The same source conveyed that the Duchess of Sussex feels Kate might be overstepping her boundaries.
In contrast, despite the reported tension between Prince Harry and Prince William, Harry retains significant respect for Kate Middleton.
In alignment with Harry’s visit, the royal family intends to commemorate the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on September 8. However, insiders have informed The Sun media site that Harry has not been extended an invitation to the private Balmoral Castle event.
The relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the royals has been notably strained, especially following the release of Harry’s memoirs in January. The couple’s most recent UK trip was for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.
