Buckingham Palace recently announced that King Charles III will meet with President Joe Biden next week at Windsor Castle.
According to the Palace statement, the meeting between the King and the President of the United States will take place on Monday, July 10th.
The White House has also issued a statement, noting that President Biden will first travel to London. There, he will participate in meetings with both King Charles and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The meetings aim to further strengthen the already close relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.
After his visit to the UK, President Biden will continue his travels to Vilnius, Lithuania, to attend the NATO Summit, followed by a trip to Helsinki, Finland, for a U.S.-Nordic Leaders Summit.
This will be the second time President Biden has met with a sitting British monarch during his presidency. The previous encounter took place at Windsor Castle in June 2021, where he met with the late Queen Elizabeth.
King Charles’ coronation occurred almost two months ago in May. The upcoming visit from President Biden is a significant event following this milestone. Although President Biden was unable to attend the coronation, he did attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth in September 2022. Representing the United States at the coronation was First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
Both President Biden and King Charles, share a connection through their age-related milestones. President Biden became the oldest person elected president in 2020, while King Charles became the oldest monarch to ascend to the British throne.
