A shooting incident occurred during a Father’s Day celebration in Chicago, Illinois, resulting in the death of two people and injuries to three others on Sunday evening, June 18.
According to the Chicago Police, the shooting took place in the Roseland neighborhood near West 99th and South Princeton. Five people were shot while gathered in a park for a BBQ when unidentified people in a gray Honda sedan opened fire. The victims were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Two men, aged 37 and 32, lost their lives as a result of their injuries, according to police spokesperson Tom Ahern. The 32-year-old man, identified as Brian Ross, was shot in the neck. The three remaining victims, aged 27, 25, and 19, were admitted to hospitals. The 27-year-old man, shot in the buttocks, was in critical condition. The 19 and 25-year-olds were in stable condition, as of Monday.
The celebration has been held by the community every year for decades.
At present, no suspects have been apprehended in relation to the shooting. Authorities are investigating the incident to gather more information and identify those responsible.
