A father of six was fatally shot while attending his daughter’s high school graduation party in Texas.
Adam Tobias, 35, was attending his daughter’s graduation party in Houston when he was fatally shot in the early hours of Friday, May 26. Destiny, Tobias’s daughter, held her father after the tragic incident, a story that her stepmother, Neftaly Perez, shared with the press. Perez, Tobias’s wife of 16 years, was not present during the shooting, and neither were their five sons.
The suspect, 24-year-old Philip Arning, is the ex-boyfriend of Destiny’s biological mother. The altercation that led to the shooting stemmed from a dispute over Tobias being at the mother’s house. Destiny had reportedly confronted Arning about his presence at the event.
Perez has accused Arning of ending Tobias’s life without any provocation. Arning, who is currently out on bail, is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday.
In response to the sudden funeral expenses, a GoFundMe campaign was set up and so far has raised over $6,000.
