A 32-year-old father from Ohio was arrested on Thursday, June 15, after he allegedly lined up his three young sons and shot them to death.
Keith Doerman, the father of the shooter Chad Doerman, voiced his shock and puzzlement regarding his son’s actions, implying that his son had suddenly broken down. Residing in Port Richey, Florida, Keith and his wife, Gloria, are struggling to make sense of their son’s terrible act, unable to pinpoint any motivations.
Keith suggested that Chad may have been dealing with severe life issues. Yet, since the shocking event, he hasn’t been able to communicate with Chad, limiting his insight into the situation. He speculates that his son might have been concealing a lot from him.
Body cam footage recorded by police illustrated officers facing Chad, who was found placidly sitting near his rifle. The fatal event took place at their Clermont County home, where Chad allegedly shot his sons, ages three, four, and seven. The video shows an officer demanding Chad to reveal his hands and get up, but he remained seated.
Chad later reportedly confessed to the horrific crime after using his rifle to kill his sons. His daughter, Alexis, successfully fled the scene and warned others by yelling that her father was “killing everyone.” Chad is also alleged to have shot the boys’ mother in the hand. He is now charged with aggravated murder.
Reflecting on a recent visit to his son before the incident, Keith said that Chad seemed well and described him as a cheerful individual. He insisted that Chad had no previous instances of mental disorders, peculiar behavior, or criminal offenses. Although an old report alleged that Chad had choked his father in 2010, Keith denied this, stating that the case was later dismissed.
In the days leading up to the event, Chad had changed his Facebook profile picture to one featuring his three young sons. He had also posted various pictures of the boys, one of which showed him teaching them how to fish. The family is now grappling with their profound loss and grief.
