North Korea held mass rallies across the country on Saturday, June 24, commemorating the “day of struggle against US imperialism.”
The state-run Korean Central News Agency reported that these gatherings took place in every province of the nation, with an estimated 120,000 people attending in Pyongyang alone.
During the rallies, participants displayed signs bearing slogans such as “The entire continental US is within our range!” and “The imperialist US is the destroyer of peace.” These events coincided with the 73rd anniversary of the start of the Korean War.
In 2019, former President Trump engaged in disarmament talks with the Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, but they failed to reach a conclusive agreement. Since then, under the Biden administration, Kim has initiated tests of new nuclear missiles, aiming to develop weapons capable of reaching the United States.
Government leaders who spoke at the rallies asserted that North Korea now possesses the ‘strongest absolute weapon’ to punish “US imperialists,” according to the state propaganda outlet. Various speakers also reflected on the challenges their country endured during the Korean War, emphasizing the heavy toll it exacted on innocent lives.
