New Jersey authorities have initiated an investigation into a murder-suicide that happened on Saturday, leaving two men dead and a woman injured.
The Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the investigation, as was revealed by authorities on Sunday.
At about 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 10, Newark police officers responded to a reported shooting. At the scene, officers found 33-year-old Isaiah Cobb with noticeable gunshot wounds. Cobb was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 pm.
The officers also discovered Terrance Carroll, 51, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Carroll was transported to University Hospital for medical care. However, Carroll’s injuries were fatal, and he was declared dead at 12:13 am on Sunday.
A woman, whose identity has not yet been made public, also suffered injuries in the incident and is currently being evaluated at a local hospital.
According to sources within law enforcement, Carroll is alleged to have shot Cobb, who was supposedly having an affair with Carroll’s wife. The source stated that Carroll had parked his car across from Cobb’s residence and waited inside his car all night. He later shot Cobb in the head while the younger man was sitting in his vehicle. Following the shooting, Carroll is believed to have returned home, assaulted his wife, and then shot himself.
The authorities have yet to reveal the identity of Carroll’s wife or confirm whether the couple had separated.
As the investigation remains ongoing, authorities are urging anyone with further information about the shooting to come forward.
