Three people died while several others were injured in a car crash involving members of the same family.
The fatal event took place on Freedom Road, approximately 40 miles south of Buffalo, New York, on Saturday afternoon, June 17. Evan Klink, 21, was operating a Dodge truck when he seemingly abruptly darted into the oncoming lane, leading to a violent collision with a Ford hatchback driven by his sister, Dahlia Klink, 24.
Among the immediate casualties were two minors, Dahlia’s daughter, Molly Kibler, 6, and a teenager, Havanah Lopez, 17, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. Following the crash, Dahlia was taken to the Erie County Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries the next day.
Evan, who incurred minor injuries, was transported to the New York State Police Station in Warsaw for questioning. A fellow Dodge passenger, Cameron Klink, 19, was critically injured and required emergency medical evacuation to a nearby hospital.
Another of Dahlia’s daughters, who remains unnamed, was also grievously injured and is presently in hospital care.
The authorities are investigating the incident, with reports from witnesses claiming the Dodge truck suddenly crossed into the opposing traffic lane. Investigators are assessing the speed Evan was driving and whether the crash was an intentional act.
The New York State Police are coordinating with the county District Attorney’s office to secure a subpoena for Evan’s blood sample. According to social media updates from family members, all occupants of the two vehicles were related.
GoFundMe campaigns have been initiated to raise funds to meet the funeral expenses of the deceased.
