Man Dies After 21-Cocktail Challenge

A British man died after a bizarre challenge while vacationing with his family at the Royal Caribbean Decameron Club in St Ann’s, Jamaica.

Timothy Southern, 53, from Staffordshire, UK was participating in a daunting challenge involving the consumption of all 21 cocktails listed on a bar’s menu. Southern managed to consume 12 of the various cocktails before retiring to his hotel room, where he later passed away, according to reports.

A pathologist in Kingston determined that the cause of death was “acute gastroenteritis due to alcohol consumption,” confirming Coroner Emma Serrano’s ruling that Southern’s death was alcohol-related.

Initial investigations revealed that Southern had been consuming brandy and beer throughout the morning. Later in the day, he met two Canadian women who were celebrating a birthday and had embarked on the same 21-cocktail challenge.

Details surrounding the speed at which Southern consumed the 12 cocktails remain unclear. His family members, who were present during the vacation, were unable to help him despite their best efforts. Witnesses recounted the family’s desperate attempts to assist Southern as he began to show signs of severe distress.

Expressing their discontent, the family criticized the emergency crews present at the hotel, claiming they were ill-prepared to handle the situation effectively. One family member recalled the arrival of a nurse who allegedly said that an ambulance had not been called. The family had hoped the nurse would take control of the situation, but their hopes were dashed as they watched Southern’s condition deteriorate.

The grieving relative expressed disappointment in the nurse’s lack of proper training in life-saving techniques. They contended that only chest compressions were administered, and if the nurse had been more knowledgeable, the outcome might have been different. The family condemned the quality of service and treatment received, describing it as “disgusting.”
