An 83-year-old man from Texas has been charged with murder after admitting to the fatal shooting of his 78-year-old ex-girlfriend during an argument about her new romantic relationship.
The Rowlett Police Department responded to a call about an unconscious person at the home of Sharon Radebaugh on Seafield Lane in Rowlett, Texas. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Radebaugh’s lifeless body, which had been shot once. The police swiftly ascertained that the act was not random violence, but rather stemmed from a past relationship.
The investigation pointed to Wilson Elliot, a resident of Trinity, Texas – a small city situated three hours away from Rowlett. In less than 24 hours following the incident, Rowlett police, aided by the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Rangers, apprehended Elliot. During his arrest, the suspect confessed to shooting Sharon in the wake of a confrontation about her new relationship. He was subsequently arraigned on a murder charge and is presently held on a $1 million bond.
Sharon Radebaugh, a Rowlett Democratic Precinct chair, was admired for her generous spirit, diligent work, and robust support of Democratic candidates. Her sudden death has ignited debates on gun ownership and the lack of stringent regulations surrounding it. Katherine Savers McGovern, a former Democratic candidate for US Congress, mourned her loss in a Facebook post, shedding light on Radebaugh’s commendable attributes while lamenting the outcome.
