Actor Brad Pitt has put forth serious allegations against his ex-spouse, actress Angelina Jolie.
He claims that Jolie had a secret plan to sell her portion of their shared property in France, Château Miraval. Pitt alleges that this was a vengeful move amidst their intense child custody battle.
Court documents state that Pitt alleges an agreement existed between him and Jolie, prohibiting the sale of their stakes in the $30 million property without mutual consent. Yet, after their 2019 divorce, Jolie reportedly expressed an interest in withdrawing from the investment, prompting discussions regarding Pitt buying her share.
Jolie initially accepted a division that granted Pitt 68 percent ownership, leaving her with 32 percent. This division was due to Pitt’s larger contribution in terms of time and finances. However, in 2021, Pitt discovered through a press release that Jolie had sold her 50 percent stake.
The lawsuit indicates that Jolie clandestinely coordinated with Yuri Shefler, owner of Stoli Group, to keep Pitt uninformed of the transaction. Legal filings suggest that after a child custody ruling that didn’t favor her, Jolie decided to sell her stake. This ruling overturned their original joint custody agreement for their six children.
Pitt’s lawsuit, filed with the LA Superior Court, alleges that Jolie’s actions were intentional, unlawful, and deliberately caused him harm while providing her with an unfair advantage.
Pitt contends that Jolie purposefully chose Shefler as the buyer due to his purported connections with Vladimir Putin, intending to harm the business.
Now that a third party owns half of the estate, Pitt argues that the original intent of buying Château Miraval as a family home for their children is disrupted.
This recent lawsuit comes after Jolie’s counter-claim of $250 million against Pitt nine months ago. She accused Pitt of trying to seize full control of the French winery, thereby preventing her from profiting from it. Jolie’s company, Nouvel, initiated the lawsuit, also accusing Pitt of trying to enforce a non-disclosure agreement to prevent her from revealing details about their divorce.
