A two-year-old girl died after running into the path of an oncoming car on Sunday near the beach on Tybee Island, Georgia.
In a tragedy that occurred around 5:45 p.m. Sunday evening, a toddler named Rae’Lynn Michelle Milton lost her life in a parking lot on Strand Avenue, at the intersection of 15th Street. The news was confirmed by the Georgia Public Safety Department in a statement released to the public.
As reported by the police, the Milton family was gathered in the parking lot adjacent to a row of parked vehicles when the incident happened. The vehicle in question was moving in a northbound direction towards the group. Seemingly out of nowhere, little Rae’Lynn bolted into the street. Before the driver had a chance to react, the child was struck.
She was immediately rushed to Memorial Medical Center in a desperate bid to save her life. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, she died at 6:19 p.m., less than an hour after the accident.
At this time, the authorities have refrained from sharing additional details about the accident, including the speed at which the vehicle was moving when it struck Rae’Lynn, and the identity of the driver involved. It remains unclear if the driver will face any charges in relation to the incident.
The beach area where the accident took place is on Tybee Island, a location about 18 miles east of Savannah, Georgia. It is renowned for having the largest public beach in the state, making it a popular destination for families.
