A man who deceitfully lured a teenager to his residence with the promise of Disney Pocahontas cups has been handed a five-decade prison term for her savage killing.
The shocking crime, committed by 53-year-old Arthur Jensen of Sheldon, Illinois, took the life of 17-year-old Adara Bunn in 2019.
Jensen’s half-century sentence was confirmed by Iroquois County Circuit Court Judge Michael Sabol on May 15, as reported by the Iroquois County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The incident took place on August 5, 2019, when Bunn, unsuspectingly drawn to Jensen’s home by the offer of Disney collectibles, lost her life. Bunn had previously purchased Pocahontas cups from Jensen at a garage sale and returned to buy more, unknowingly stepping into her doom.
Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Quinlan described the crime as one of the most repulsive murders he had ever seen.
The shocking event was exposed when alarmed neighbors heard screams coming from Jensen’s house and dialed 911. Jensen, answering the door to the arriving officers, confessed in a chilling manner to having strangled the young girl. Upon entering the house, the police found Bunn’s lifeless body and immediately took Jensen into custody.
Investigations later uncovered that Bunn had initially met Jensen at a local garage sale a weekend before her death. Manipulating her love of Disney memorabilia, Jensen cunningly lured her back to his home.
Affectionately referred to as Sissy, Bunn was a bright student with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian, just about to enter her junior year of high school.
