The incident occurred on May 11, as the alleged thief was cycling on a sidewalk. The car rammed into the bike, causing the man to fall and scatter the stolen items, including bags of chips, sodas, and a bouquet, onto a nearby driveway. The camera owner observed the incident unfolding on his Ring camera while he was at work.
Following the collision, a heated argument ensued between the woman and the man as they picked up the scattered items. Despite their aggressive exchange, they collected the goods with relative calm. The alleged shoplifter can be heard in the video cursing at the woman, while she accuses him of stealing from the store. The argument continued, with the woman throwing the damaged bicycle toward the road.
As the conflict subsided, the worker returned to her car with about half of the stolen items. However, tensions flared again as the man threatened her with legal action and announced his intention to press charges.
The video clip elicited a divided response among online viewers. Some applauded the woman’s determination to recover the stolen goods, while others condemned her use of the car as a weapon. Some awarded the woman the title of “employee of the year” while others expressed disapproval, citing assault with a deadly weapon, and suggesting that such matters should be left to law enforcement.
Fresno City Police did not give any details but said they were called about the incident.
