Police in Fairbanks, Alaska, discovered the bodies of three family members in a gruesome homicide-suicide while performing a welfare check on their home.
The remains of Linda and Wesley Dunbar, both 64, and their 36-year-old daughter, Nancy Dunbar, were found on Sunday evening, May 14, with indications that they had been deceased for about three weeks.
According to police spokesperson Teal Soden, the victims were identified, and although autopsies are still pending, initial evidence points to all three having died from gunshot wounds. A suicide note was discovered at the scene, along with a firearm.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the individual responsible for the murders, but they claim to have sufficient information to determine who it was. The welfare check was requested by an acquaintance of the family who had grown concerned after losing contact with them for an extended period.
