Ejected Motorcyclist Killed by Train After Landing On Railroad Tracks

In what surely must be viewed as a very tragic and unlucky incident, a CA motorcyclist was killed after being ejected from his motorcycle, landing on train tracks, and being struck by a BART Commuter Rail train.

The motorcyclist accidentally collided with a BART “right of way” barrier and was thrown from his motorcycle onto tracks at the junction of 23rd   St. and Northgate Ave. in Oakland, right at the point where the underground tunnel ascends to the aerial track.

According to the Oakland Police Department, the man lost control of his motorcycle while crossing Northgate at around 4 PM on Friday, September 16t, He struck the barrier curb and was launched onto the trucks where he was struck by the train. The 35-year-old Oakland man, whose name is yet to be released, was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

After sharing information about the accident, a BART communications specialist urged at least one social media user to take down comments about “a junkie” landing on the BART tracks. “We hope you all have since deleted your tweets.”
