A 26-year-old woman from Siedlce, Poland died during her honeymoon in Miami Beach, Florida, following what investigators have determined was exposure to psychoactive substances.
Aleksandra Leczycka and her husband Dawid Leczycki were found unconscious on a Miami street in August 2022, just 23 days after their wedding ceremony. While Dawid survived, Aleksandra did not recover.
The case, which puzzled investigators for two years, reached a conclusion on October 23, 2024, when the District Prosecutor’s Office in Siedlce, Poland, released their findings. According to District Prosecutor Krystyna Golabek, “By a decision dated 23rd October 2024, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Siedlce discontinued the investigation into the case of Aleksandra L., whose death occurred on 29th August 2022, in Miami Beach, USA.”
Initial reports suggested the couple had been victims of a robbery, as they were found without cash and jewelry. However, extensive investigation, including cooperation with American authorities and expert analysis in computer science and toxicology, revealed a different scenario.
The investigation determined that the couple had voluntarily taken psychoactive substances. Leczycka’s death was attributed to either a severe allergic reaction or an overdose from these substances. While investigators could not completely rule out the possibility of involuntary drugging, they found no evidence to support this theory.
Hours before the incident, Leczycka had posted images of herself enjoying time at a Miami beach. The couple had married on August 6, 2022, and traveled to Miami for their honeymoon celebration.
Prosecutor Golabek stated that the investigation included comprehensive measures, such as requesting legal assistance from American authorities and obtaining expert opinions in various fields. The findings contradicted initial police assumptions about robbery being a factor in the case.
Dawid Leczycki has not made any public statements regarding the incident since its occurrence.
The investigation’s conclusion comes after two years of detailed examination of evidence gathered both in Poland and Miami Beach, including materials provided by American investigators and expert analysis of digital and toxicological evidence.
