In West Palm Beach, Florida, a 33-year-old pizza delivery man was shot and killed during a robbery attempt.
Tommie Charles Anderson II, working his second day for Domino’s Pizza, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery.
The incident took place on January 9, 2024, following a delivery Anderson had just completed.
The resident who had ordered the pizza heard three shots fired right after the delivery and called 911. Responding to the report of the shooting around 12:50 p.m., West Palm Beach police officers found Anderson on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds to his neck and arm.
He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead approximately an hour later.
Surveillance footage showed a white Honda four-door vehicle, pull up to the delivery car. Approximately four hours after the shooting, the Florida Highway Patrol located the Honda in West Palm Beach with three suspects inside: Elijsha Wingfield, 25, Avianna Kerr Williams, 25, and Marcus Williams, 29. Officers also found two rifles and a 9mm pistol in the vehicle.
Wingfield admitted to the shooting, citing a desperate need for money as he was awaiting an unpaid paycheck.
The suspect alleged that, during the robbery attempt, he shot Anderson, who had raised his hands in surrender, out of fear that Anderson was reaching for a weapon.
Williams, who was also armed during the incident, claimed he refrained from shooting as he realized Anderson was unarmed.
The death of Anderson, a father of two, has been profoundly felt by his family. His father, Tommie Anderson Jr., expressed immense grief over the senseless act that took his son’s life.
Anderson was described as a dedicated father who worked two jobs to support his children, aged six and 13.
The three suspects are currently facing first-degree murder charges and are being held without bond.
