A 19-year-old Brazilian influencer passed away due to complications two days after an emergency liver transplant, as announced by her father, Vitor Valim.
Vitor, the mayor of Caucaia in Ceará, Brazil, shared the news of his daughter’s passing on a December 9, 2023, Instagram post, expressing profound sorrow and gratitude for the support and prayers during this difficult time.
Maria Sofia Valim, an aspiring lawyer with a substantial social media following, was known for her posts about travel, fitness, skin care, and luxury brands. Her Instagram account, with over 100,000 followers, showcased her vibrant life and interests.
Her health complications began early in December, leading to an urgent need for a liver transplant. On December 5, 2023, Vitor Valim informed the public of his daughter’s critical condition and the need for a liver transplant.
Fortunately, a compatible donor was found, and the surgery was successfully performed. However, the following 48 hours were critical for observation to ensure her body accepted the new organ.
Despite the successful transplant, Maria Sofia’s body could not withstand the post-operative complications. Her final Instagram post, dated November 25, 2023, depicted her at a Taylor Swift concert in Brazil, part of Swift’s Eras Tour.
