A man from Warroad, Minnesota, shot and killed his wife and then called 911 to report the incident. According to local authorities, the man seemed unbothered during his confession.
The 63-year-old, David Corneliusen, stands accused of the second-degree murder of Mary A. Corneliusen, 66. During his call, the suspect confirmed he was responsible for the murder and said his wife was “beyond help.” When questioned about the incident, he simply remarked, “There is nothing to talk about.”
When officers arrived at the location, they found Corneliusen standing outside the house. He was arrested without any issues. Inside the home, they discovered the body of his wife.
The couple’s daughter, Ciara Meyers, spoke to the media, expressing her thoughts about her mother’s death. She described her mother as a strong, resilient woman.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Corneliusen shot his wife following a verbal altercation.
To assist with funeral costs, a GoFundMe campaign has been established.
Corneliusen was charged and his bail was set at $700,000 in the Roseau County District Court. He’s currently detained in the Roseau County Jail with his next court date scheduled for October 9.
The victim’s daughter, Meyers, made a plea on social media, urging people to remember her mother’s smile instead of sharing the mugshot of her alleged killer. She emphasized that her mother’s memory should be the center of attention, not the perpetrator.
