On Saturday morning, September 2, Massachusetts State Police and the FBI arrived at Boston Logan International Airport in response to a reported “potential criminal act” on American Flight 1441 en route from Charlotte, North Carolina to Boston, Massachusetts.
The incident was reported by American Airlines. Upon landing, the plane was met by state police patrols and detectives who initiated an inquiry into the matter.
The investigation revealed that the alleged incident took place while the plane was in mid-air. However, the exact nature of the incident remains undisclosed by the police. The incident had something to do with a ‘juvenile, a flight attendant, and a cell phone,” according to WSOC-TV in Charlotte.
Since the incident happened mid-flight, it falls under federal jurisdiction. As a result, federal authorities have claimed authority over the investigation, as stated by the Massachusetts State Police.
An FBI representative confirmed their agents’ involvement in the investigation but refrained from giving further details. American Airlines, when contacted by the media for more information, did not provide an immediate response. However, a spokesperson for the airline later told Boston 25, “We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation, as safety and security are our highest priority.”
