A late-night collision on Saturday, August 5, in Atmore, Alabama, led to two fatalities.
Kenneth E. Harrison, 45, collided with Hannah Martin as she made her way across Highway 31 in the direction of The Tavern. The impact sent Martin into the bar’s parking premises and Harrison’s vehicle stopped close to her.
In a sudden twist, patrons from The Tavern reportedly assaulted Harrison. Due to the injuries from this brutal assault, Harrison required urgent medical care at a trauma center. Regrettably, he passed away four days after the accident from multiple injuries and internal bleeding.
Harrison’s girlfriend, Kati Riley, commented on the incident. She mentioned that the accident was not intentional and that Harrison had been trying to help the injured Martin when the patrons attacked him.
Legal authorities are reviewing the evidence surrounding the assault. The decision to possibly charge the attackers is in the hands of the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office. The assailants’ identities are currently withheld.
Concurrently, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is probing into the collision’s circumstances, specifically looking into potential alcohol consumption by either party.
It has been documented that in 2011, Harrison was found guilty of manslaughter and was incarcerated for five years, obtaining his release in 2016.
