The former prime-time star, Tucker Carlson, finds himself at the center of a potential legal showdown with his previous employer, Fox News, following the launch of his new opinion show on Twitter.
Reports indicate that Fox News has accused Carlson of contract breach, prompting the network’s lawyers to issue him a letter. Carlson’s new show, which presents a 10-minute examination of various conspiracy theories, premiered on the Twitter platform now under the ownership of billionaire Elon Musk.
Despite his exit from Fox News after a legal settlement with Dominion Voting Systems – a settlement in which the network agreed to a payout of $787 million – Carlson continues to receive his $20 million salary as the legal dispute progresses. In May, Carlson alleged that Fox News had infringed on their contract, arguing that a non-compete clause was no longer valid.
However, the network denies any direct correlation between his departure and the settlement with Dominion. Throughout his tenure of over six years at Fox News, Carlson earned a reputation for his inflammatory monologues against conservative targets like immigrants and progressives such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The network has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the situation.
